Mochi in B&W

It’s unfair that Mochi is the only one of my main characters who hasn’t got her own page yet. To compensate that, here are some pictures of Mochi as a pinto pup. What do you think, should she appear in blackface or should she remain lilywhite? I think it has certain optical advantages that her head is black, apart from being prettier and more ye olde akita-like. Click on the pictures to see the previous version.

To be honest, I was disappointed when I first saw the original white Mochi … She’s much cuter with a black face and some spots on her butt!

Besides, drawing a historical comic featuring an Akita is a great opportunity to show an example of the ‘old’ Akita type that existed in Japan earlier in the 20th century, as the photographs in the link show, but which seems to be erased, slowly but steadily, from Japanese counciousness since the new breed standard in the 1990’s.

Mochi’s tail changes shape… In the first picture, it’s a straight puppy-tail, and then it grows to a fluffy curl-tip… Maybe that’s the first part of her that begins to grow into adult Akita proportions??
