Die Berlinale: 1920’s Chick Flicks
Spiegel Online has a nice article about the 1920’s trend of movies about young and independent women. They were called “flappers”, “new women”, モダーンガール。 Stars like Clara Bow, Greta Garbo and Louise Brooks played rebel girls or working women in a type of you-can-do-it stories that seem very modern, very post-1950’s, today. The Berlinale film festival is showing a selection of them. If you happen to be in or around the Hauptstadt der Republik, it is a must-visit.
