Good Stuff
Some links I found today while therapy surfing.
Chronicles of Captain Flame - Pirates!
Found through PopuLaari, a Finnish blog with all kinds of crazy old-time stuff.
Coconino World - More comics from today and yesteryear than you can shake a baguette at. I must recommend the website dedicated to French cartoonist Gus Bofa, active in the first half of the 20th century. Why have I never heard of this fellow before? His art style looks like a direct ancestor of both Jacques Tardi and Joann Sfar. The exhibition of Le salon de l’araignee, Bofa’s fellowship of likeminded artists and illustrators between the wars, includes more mindblowingly good art.

Oooh, thanks for the lovely links!
Coconino World is an incredible, though slightly confusing, treasure vault. In “Keisai Eisen” - accessible from here: http://www.coconino-world.com/s_classics_v3/mng_classics.php - there is even a historical woodcut of a pinto akita. Z:o3
