Notes:
The Knights Templar in Istria have a pretty interesting history in the real world, as well. The cross that I have chosen to symbolize the Templars at Crni Kraj is commonly known as the patriarchal cross, which was very often used in the Byzantine empire to symbolize both secular and ecclesiastic power. Others say the double beams symbolize the death and resurrection of Christ.
Clement V was the wimpy pope who first allowed to persecute the Knights Templar for alleged heresy, then withdrew the accusations (after a lot of people had been tortured and executed) and pardoned the order, then disbanded it and divided its belongings amongst other orders and interested parties. I write ‘wimpy’ because he did this basically under pressure from the French king, who also made him move from Rome to Avignon to keep a better eye on the papacy. Dante placed Clement V in the 8th circle of Hell, which says a lot about his legacy.
