Volkov should wave some flagsies, too … Reminds me of how I shared a block of rooms in the student dorm of Moscow State University with a US-American girl. She put a US flag on her door, and I found it so offensive an oppressive that I couldn’t resist the urge to put a square piece of black cardboard on my own door. Ah, those were the days of my wild, radical and kind of misguided youth.
(Of course she didn’t know what that black piece of carton was for, and she didn’t mean anything bad with her US flag … But at least it opened up for conversation with one of her friends, a funny Indian guy who was married to a woman in Tuva and was a Marxist, but had also studied a lot of Anarchist classics.)
Speaking of alternative flags, there was no Vatican state back then so Falco is just waving a general Pope flag (the colours yellow and white had been used for various Papal flags since Napoleon’s days). Perhaps he should have a flag with the lion of San Marco, too.
Goldie could have held the flag proposal of the Zionist world congress 1897. But Goldie is more of a Polish patriot, with progressive ideas. Maybe that will change after a few more years of Pilsudski, though…
