Spam Wars
I’m testing a new anti-spam plugin, “Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam Image Plugin”. All comments have to be verified now. I get literally hundreds of spam trackbacks and comments every day, which the Akismet plugin catches but stores on the server. Thanks to Turukhtan, who has posted a summary of the problem, I hope I’ve found a solution. Strange that WordPress doesn’t include this kind of solution in the basic package!

Yay!
Is it possible to choose your own anti-spam words? I got “ikea” now …

Sadly, it doesn’t keep the trackback spam away. I guess I have to start studying how this whole “trackback” thing works.
Hmm, looks like I have to add more words myself. Well, that should be fun…

Yeah, trackback spam is so bad that I simply don’t allow trackbacks or pingbacks on my site.

Maybe I should do that. Of course it’s fun to see who keeps linking to me, but to tell the truth, only the spammers do.

Well, now I’ve disallowed trackbacks but they keep coming anyway… Perhaps an update is in order.
