New Look
I got tired of the old, brown theme. Tell me if this one is boring/difficult/annoying or if something doesn’t work. Hugs & kisses to everybody!
It’s the Modern World, the End of Times, the Decline of the West, the Revolt of the Masses. It’s the 1920’s. It’s going to be Very Silly.

My first impession is that it’s rather “clinical”. I liked the old design more, it was more “1920’s”. >:(:) Maybe it’s just a question of colours and fonts.
The good points of this design is that the menus are not so cluttered, so it’s easier to find things. Then again, the menu at the top of the page is too far away from where your eyes keep looking. Maybe it could be below the title?

But the alternating header image is definitely very nice!
(Mochi!!!!!!)

I was going to say “it needs more Mochi”, but Mochi was hidden! And there came more and more Mochi every time I reloaded the page!!!

Sorry for spamming, but these swastikas for comment icons are also slightly disturbing, but they do give a bit of a 1920’s feel …

Thankt for all the feedback. Now let’s see…
1) I agree it’s a bit too white, but it’s easier to find everything, and I was amazed at all the stuff I found… There are a lot of nice things on this blog that I had completely forgotten about! I’ll just have to explore the code a bit more and see what can be done about colour schemes and fonts. The problem with ready-made themes is often that the pretty ones don’t work, and the useful ones are fugly…
2) More ideas for headers? Keep ‘em coming! Can’t go wrong with Mochi (soon people will start to suspect that she is the Goldenbird). More colour images.
3)They are some sort of standard icons. I still haven’t figured out if there’s a way to make my own icons.
I had problems with the Sugarskull banner - it wouldn’t fit into the sidebars so I crammed it in the footer (see below). Sadly you now have to scroll down to see it. On the other hand, it now appears on every page.

I played around with the code a bit and changed the font and the sidebars. The top menu should be easier to find now, too.
One thing I noticed is that the pingback spam has magically stopped. Let’s see if it is temporary…

Congratulations to the new look of the blog! It has lost a little of its “organic” feeling, but it has also regained a more “clean”, Japanese feeling.

Thanks for using the Atahualpa theme. There’s a new version 2.2 available now http://wordpress.bytesforall.com/?p=56
In 2.2, to move the top menu bar below the header image, cut line 24-33 from header.php and paste it right before the very last at line 119.
To use your own No-Gravatar image, comment out lines 23-25 and line 31 in comments.php, and upload your own “no-gravatar2.gif” with a size of 55×55 to /wp-content/themes/atahualpa2/images
To increase the top margin of text widgets without title (i.e. flagcounter.com on your site here) look into style.css and uncomment the class .textwidget at line 136
You would also be able to stretch the site to 100% width as you were trying here, on the options page, without edits, and the RSS icon and the logo icon wouldn’t touch the browser borders.
The code is much cleaner now and it will be easier to edit.

*reloaded the page over and over until the anti-spam word was “sergei”*
Oooh, changing the font to Georgia made it much nicer! And I definitely agree that this layout is a lot easier to navigate. Now that the menu is under the header image, it’s perfect. V^(oo)^V
But I just have to complain about yet another thing: the little Goldenbird icon at the top of the page bothers me somehow. Have you only tested this on an at least 1280 pixels wide browser? If I don’t have my bookmarks sidebar in Firefox (1280 px wide), the icon is to the left of the title, which looks fine, but if I do (1200 px maybe), it’s above the title, which looks disturbing.

Bytes For All: Wow, that’s what I call service. Thank you very much.
Tinet: I’ll be able to fix it thanks to the tips above.
