She’s a Killing Machine
I love Tinet’s newest comic about streetwalker-battleaxe Eva’s adventures. Although Eva lives in a historical period much closer to our own, if not contemporary to it, the stories always make me think about 1920’s Shanghai and Japanese biker films from the 1960’s. I would like to follow Tinet’s example and join a 24-hour comic challenge, but the thesis work has already pushed little old me to the limits. I have exhausted my share of all-nighters for the last 5 years!
Besides, tonight it feels like I’ve forgotten how to draw. I felt inspired enough to draw Mayann and Mochi in a friend’s copy of Goldenbird 2. Of course, I forgot to photograph it before I mailed it to him… Maybe he will post it on his blog?

Noooo!!! … We cannot be denied a picture of MOCHI!!! We must pester him about it if he fails to show us it!
I don’t know what time period Eva lives in. There are some things obviously missing from the comics for it to be present time (like mobile phones), and then again there are other things that conflict and make it hard to place. Maybe some kind of parallel universe late 1960’s/early 1970’s? I guess it’s part of the charm to keep it unclear, and, of course, also a guard against malignant historical correctness geeks …
In any case, I should watch more Japanese biker films from the 1960’s. :3
